Adding external funds to a project

Last Updated: Jun 23, 2017 01:49PM BST
We know that often when you are fundraising you can have funds coming from various sources that you may wish to show in your project.  For example you may have received a grant directly from a funder that has not come through The Good Exchange.  Or, you may have held a fundraising event and raised money from this.

External funds like these can be added to your project to reduce the target on The Good Exchange accordingly.  To do this you need to complete the following steps:
  1. Log-in to The Good Exchange and click on My Dashboard.
  2. Select Approved Projects and click the title of the relevant project.
  3. Under the Project Information section you will see a section titled Externally Raised.

Click Add to bring up the following box:

Add in the details of who has granted you the money or how the funds were raised and whether or not this has already been paid.  If there is a condition on the funds being granted (for e.g. project must have raised 50% already), this can also be added.  Click on Create to complete this section.

The amounts of any external funds added will reduce your overall target on The Good Exchange and will appear as Other when you hover over the 'i' symbol next to the barometer on your project page.

It is extremely useful to keep this information up to date and keep track of the overall project funding. Funders are also given the option to match funds raised externally and like to see how active your fundraising is.
