What is Match Funding?

Last Updated: Jun 23, 2017 04:41PM BST
The Good Exchange offers funders the opportunity to match-fund donations made to projects on the platform. This gives applicants the opportunity to reach their fundraising target more quickly by doubling donations (or more) to their projects. For example, if a donor makes a £10 donation and a funder is match-funding £1 for every £1 donated, then the project will have raised £20 and if the applicant and project are eligible for Gift Aid this is increased to £22.50 (before fees are applied).

Funders can set up a pot of money to match donations to projects and choose which match funding ratio to apply (this is normally one-to-one but can be more if they wish) for eligible donations. For projects where match-funding on donations is available, a match-funding symbol will be displayed on the project page for easy identification.

You can also browse funders using the magnifying glass search function on the top right of the Home Page.  Click on a Funder Profile to view their active funding schemes.  Click on each scheme title for further information.

Please read the eligibility criteria carefully for each individual match-funding scheme as funders will apply different rules as to which projects they decide to support and how they apply their match-funding.  If you have questions regarding the scheme of a specific funder and whether or not your project is eligible for match funding under their T&Cs, please contact them directly using the information on their Funder Profile.

Match funding on grants is also available via The Good Exchange.  Please refer to this article for further details:
